"Les pedres que parlen" Exhibition
Opening on Friday, April 10 at 7:30 p.m.
"Stones that talk" is intended as an exercise to disseminate the monumental wealth of the Girona regions and to show how the Girona Provincial Council, through the Monuments service, has contributed to preserving this heritage with restoration and recovery campaigns throughout the territory.
The exhibition is organized into three blocks, the first of which is introductory, with an explanation of the contents, a graph of the investments and a chronology of the service.
The second block presents, for each region, a singular element that is representative and characteristic. This selection shows the variety of monumental manifestations: religious buildings, civil constructions, sites and military fortifications. Through these examples, the aim is to make known not only the original function of the buildings and their history, but also the restoration work that has been carried out and the reasons that have driven it.
Finally, the third block presents a selection of the latest interventions carried out in the monumental heritage of the regions, identifying the type of construction, the name, the location (with the position on the regional map), the date of construction and the dates of the work.
