"Forest Art" exhibition of Martí Boada

Art show

The artist Martí Boada presents his exhibition "Forest Art" in Peralada

During his childhood, Martí Boada (Sant Celoni, 1949) had gone hunting with his father, especially in the Olzinelles valley, and went to pick acorns with his mother. Later he studied ecology, geography and environmental sciences. However, it is through art that this renowned naturalist has found a meaningful way to communicate the need to protect the world's forests.

Boada is one of the relevant voices on the environmental scene in Catalonia. A great connoisseur of forests, he is an expert in nature and the environment, a doctor in environmental sciences and a geographer.

"Martí Boada confirms to us that the love of nature is not only ecstasy in front of panoramas and sunsets, however valid that may be. Loving nature today also means being aware that we are doing something essential for our lives and those of our children"
-Antoni Tàpies.

Art de Bosc is an exhibition that fuses science and art through its unique perspective. The exhibited pieces, made with fragments of trees and wood collected over the years, offer an initial reflection or scientific note as a starting point in their artistic transformation. Martí Boada pays tribute to the forest that the ecologist Ramon Margalef said: "to understand a forest, science is insufficient, you need at least a poet". From this perspective, the artist creates a work where according to his own words: "Each work represents a project observed in the forest, identified, reinterpreted, with elements of science, but essentially reconverted into deforested art, arising from the forest by show new shades of creativity".
