Exhibition "Pablito: una visió propera"
Photography
Pablo García Cortés, Pablito (Almeria, 1922 - Girona, 1999), captured with his camera almost three decades of the social, political and artistic activity of the Girona regions. At the end of the fifties, after having worked as a photographer in Madrid and Barcelona, Pablito settled permanently in Girona.
Between the years 1957 and 1984, his skill as a photojournalist and also his human dimension allowed him to approach the world of Girona's culture, sport and nightlife and collect a good number of graphic testimonies , published in media such as Dicen, Tele/eXpres, Los Sitios de Girona, L'Indépendant or Paris Match and the EFE and Europa Press agencies.
Pablito was, as his son, Paul Garcia, has defined him, an "influencer of the seventies" who documented the years of the Costa Brava tourist boom with images of personalities, artists and celebrities from all over the world. On the occasion of the centenary of the birth of Pablo García Cortés, Pablito, the Diputació de Girona presents this exhibition, which arose from the fund of this photographer.
Photo selection: Paul Garcia Gomez.
